PTC is continuing its expansion in Russia’s booming market. DISCUSS PLUS, a large Siberian-based company,
is accustomed to working in low temperatures, as shown by the fact that its newly-commissioned PTC
Vibrodriver has to be capable of working at -40°C.
These extreme conditions are hard on both men andmachinery. Penetrating the “Permafrost” – the frozen
upper layer that never thaws – is no easy task.
This equipment has been commissioned for the vibratory driving of tubes 10 metres long, 430 millimetres
in diameter and 10 millimetres thick, which are being used to construct piles and deep foundations for
a building in NOVOSIBIRSK. The Vibrodriver is equipped with a special PTC 450VMH hydraulic powerpack.
This allows the Vibrodriver application to be used for the driving of tubes and sheet piles, which is its
standard application when equipped with a Duplex 2x55T clamping head (for tubes) or an Agriplex 120T
clamping head (for sheet piles). Equipped with a Multigrip 3x40T clamping head, it is capable of driving
concrete piles under easy conditions and, above all, it can extract these piles if required.
The unit can also be used in a hydraulic hammer configuration and, in conjunction with a CX85 hammer,
it is capable of driving 300mm x 300mm concrete in particularly difficult conditions, such as those
encountered here.
Furthermore, extraction can only be performed using vibratory equipment.
The special Multigrip 3x40T clamping head evenly distributes the clamping forces.
The three 40T clamping cylinders prevent damage to the reinforced
concrete piles. As its use was anticipated in advance, the PTC 450VMH multi-purpose
Vibro-Hydraulic Hammer powerpack saved our client the cost of purchasing a special independent
unit for the hammer.
